Justin Timberlake to play new title for Joe Biden nomination

American comedian Tom Hanks will present a special program, broadcast simultaneously on all major American channels, on the evening of Joe Biden’s inauguration, with musical guests such as Jon Bon Jovi, Demi Lovato or even Justin Timberlake, according to several American media.

For the occasion, Timberlake will perform “Better Days”, a song he composed especially for the evening, which hopes for a “better and fairer future”. As the relay NME, the singer explained that he finalized the songwriting on November 3, when Biden beat Trump at the polls. Justin Timberlake unveiled a snippet of the song on Instagram, in a video where it can be seen with Ant Clemons:

“This song was our minimum to encourage people to keep hope, and keep moving forward, towards a better and fairer future.”

The program was set up by the presidential investiture committee and will replace the usual festivities around the investiture ceremony, put away this year for health and public safety reasons.

In 2009, Aretha Franklin sang during the inauguration of Barack Obama. Also performed were Bruce Springsteen, U2, Shakira and Stevie Wonder. Four years later, the re-elected president had this time been able to count on Beyoncé for the national anthem. In 2017, Donald Trump had to be content with second knives for his ceremony, little appreciated by the entertainment world.

Celebrating America, the special broadcast on Wednesday, Jan.20 in prime time (8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. EST), will air on ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and MSNBC, as well as on the Nomination Committee’s YouTube channel . The program is also intended as a tribute to the “heroes” of the past year, marked by the coronavirus pandemic.
