Take a p’tit drink with Marc Dupre, it will soon be possible!

Eh yes, Marc Dupre announces the construction and upcoming opening of its Cherry River microdistillery in downtown Magog. The artist-entrepreneur’s project will also breathe new life into a 150-year-old heritage site!

Following the approval of the municipality of Magog, construction of the Cherry River microdistillery began in the former Saint-Luke church, a distinctive building in the heritage of the Eastern Townships built in 1870. Marc Dupre and his partner Francis Delage expect to be able to welcome the public there this spring. The microdistillery will manufacture a wide range of Quebec spirits including gins and vodkas.

Marc, where did the idea of getting into the Quebec spirits industry come from?

Mixology fascinates me. Music, like a good cocktail, brings people together. This is something that I want to share with the public. In addition, our facilities will allow us to create products that will highlight the exceptional ingredients found in Quebec. My partner Francis and I got our two sons involved in it, so it makes it all a very exciting family project for all of us. Ultimately, we want to create products that will make Quebec’s terroir shine beyond our borders.

Why did you choose to build the distillery in an old church in Magog?

First of all, the idea was to create a place to meet people, this will be our base and it will not be rare to see me serving clients there. The place will be spectacular since we will keep all the cachet of this place of worship with more than 150 years of history, which will enhance this heritage building. We will have our manufacturing facilities there for people to visit, but also a shop, a tasting room, a cellar for our wooden barrels and a terrace.

Our choice to set up in Magog can be explained by two reasons. First of all, I fell in love with the region from the start of my career. I was artistically born a stone’s throw from our distillery, at the Vieux Clocher. It must also be said that our vodka is made from the sources of the Cherry River which crosses the city of Magog. We are very proud to contribute to the rich agrotourism offer in the region.
