It was a superb night for City as they booked their place in the Champions League final for the first time in history with a 2-0 win at the Etihad, giving them a 4-1 victory on aggregate.
It was a Riyad Mahrez brace that made the difference on Tuesday but there were fine performances from the whole City side who made themselves look a different class to the French champions.
By the closing stages of the match PSG had entirely lost their discipline and started kicking out at their opponents and making heavy challenges.
Angel Di Maria was shown a red card for an idiotic kick at Fernandinho and Ferdinand felt it was all down to City’s quality making it feel like they were mocking PSG.
‘By the end of it by the way they were taking the mick,’ Ferdinand said of Man City’s performance against PSG.
‘It was embarrassing, almost, by the end of if it for this PSG team who are full of experience, full of winners.
‘They were a different level so huge hats off to Pep [Guardiola] and his team.’
Mahrez said that last year’s beaten finalists ‘lost their nerve’ in the second half, which led to their ill-discipline.
‘We played well second half and we could have scored more,’ said the in-form Algerian star. ‘They lost their nerve and started to kick us and after the red card it was more comfortable.’
City go on to the Champions League final on 29 May where they will face either Real Madrid or Chelsea who play their second leg on Wednesday after drawing 1-1 in Spain last week.
